Dear BISD Community,

I hope you and your family are settling into the fall rhythm! A highlight of this time of year is all the activity and fall sports happening at Bainbridge High School, including football. There is a special feeling of coming together as a community for Friday Night Lights! Tonight is our first home football game of the season, and I want to reiterate important reminders about student expectations at this high school sporting event:

  • No in and out privileges. If you exit the stadium prior to the conclusion of the game, you will not be permitted to reenter.Β
  • No outside food or beverages permitted
  • No student backpacks are allowed inside the stadium
  • All bags subject to search
  • Middle school and elementary school students will not be admitted without an adult

Please help us by supporting the above expectations and reviewing them with your child(ren). We need support from each of you as the adults in their lives to help reinforce the idea of having good sportsmanship and showing up as their best selves with respectful and safe behavior.Β

Additionally, if your child is in elementary school or middle school (Kindergarten-8th grade), it is extremely important that you supervise them while they are at the game. Our high school staff will be busy providing oversight at the stadium, and it is incredibly difficult to keep all students safe and supported if staff are also tasked with supervising non-high school-aged students.

Please also help us provide a warm, inclusive and caring welcome to our neighbors from Bremerton. I can’t wait to attend the game tonight, and in addition to visiting with our BISD students, staff and families, I will be sure to go over to the Bremerton stands to personally welcome them to our community.Β

Lastly, please note that all BHS home football game tickets are only available online through Hometown Ticketing and tickets will not be sold at the gate.

Hope to see you at the game β€” 7 p.m. at the BHS Memorial Stadium!

Take care,
Amii Thompson

Attendance matters

We value students' contributions to our schools and miss them when they are gone!

Did You Know?

  • Starting in kindergarten, too many absences (excused and unexcused) can cause children to fall behind in school.Β
  • Missing 10 percent (or about 18 days) increases the chance that your students will not read or master math at the same level as their peers.
  • Students can still fall behind if they miss just a day or two days every few weeks.

BISD prioritizes partnering with families to make sure students fully benefit from their education by attending school regularly. Our schools are prepared to help families and students with attendance challenges. Please reach out to your school if you would like additional information.

Slides from Executive Functioning Presentation

It was great to see so many parents and guardians in attendance at last month's Executive Functioning Seminar presented by Sarah Ward, Co-Director of Cognitive Connections, LLP.

If you were unable to attend or attended and would like to review the slides again, you're in luck! Sarah has graciously shared her slides and they are available to review here: Executive Functioning Presentation.

Chromebook Insurance

The window to purchase Chromebook Insurance is now open through October 8, 2024.

WeΒ stronglyΒ recommend purchasing Chromebook insurance, which costs $35 and covers the device for one year. By contrast, the cost to replace a broken Chromebook is $428; if the screen cracks, it can be over $150 to repair.Β

The insurance only covers situations of accidental damage and theft, specifically:
  • Accidental Damage
  • Liquid Submersion
  • Cracked Screen
  • Theft, Burglary & Robbery
  • Fire & Flood
  • Earthquake & Natural Disaster
  • Tornado & Hurricane
  • Power Surge
  • Vandalism

PLEASE NOTE:Β InsuranceΒ DOES NOTΒ cover the loss of the Chromebook or loss of the power cord. In the case of a loss, you will be required to pay the full $428 fine.

To purchase insurance, please visit theΒ Worth Ave. Group.

When enrolling, you will be asked to enter your student’s β€œOther ID.Β
This ID can be found:
  • In theΒ Skyward Family AccessΒ portal by logging in an clicking the "Student Info" button on the left menu and look for the number in the β€œOther ID” field. It is generally a seven-digit number that begins with 0.
  • In ParentSquare by clicking on the student's name associated with your account.
