We love our volunteers! 

Please remember if you want to volunteer at Blakely, all volunteers who help in the classroom, at lunch recess, on field trips, or with other various activities must be cleared by the district: Volunteering with BISD. 

The approval process can take up to two weeks. Once approved, you are ready to volunteer and your approval is valid for two years.

Please bring your driver's license each time you sign into any school in the district.

Medication is defined in the school setting to mean ALL drugs, whether prescription or “over-the-counter” which includes, but is not limited to, cough drops, Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl, nasal spray, eye drops, etc. It is the policy of the Bainbridge Island School District that all medications at school are required to have a Medication at School form filled out by both a parent AND a licensed practitioner with prescriptive authority. If it is necessary to take medication during the school day, the following procedures are to be followed:

 

1. The parent obtains the request form from the BISD Website or School Nurse

2. Parents will sign the request form.

3. Parents will have the form completed by their health care provider.

4. Parents will bring in the completed form and the medication in the original container to the office. Please bring only the required number of doses to the school and keep the remainder of medication at home.

5. Students are not allowed to transport/carry/self-administer the medication (unless the medication is an inhaler or Epi-pen).

Blakely Jog-A-Thon: Mark your calendar, the Blakely Jog-A-Thon is back and will be held Friday, October 25th, with an emphasis on inclusivity, fun and celebration for our kids as they skip, run, or walk their way around the field in support of Blakely. We hope to have 100% participation, reach our fundraising goal and have this be the only fundraiser needed this year! Be prepared for more details coming soon.

Evening PTO Meeting (Wednesday, October 9, 6-7 pm): At the last PTO meeting, it was decided to move our October 9th meeting to an evening meeting to support larger attendance. We would love to hear your questions and input for this school year (2024-2025)! Interim Principal (and former librarian), Kathleen Pool along with Reading Specialist, Robyn Stahl, will give a short presentation on how to kick off the school year right with "Supporting Reading Development at Home". 

Blakely PTO NEEDS YOU! As we kick off another exciting school year, we want to take a moment to recognize the vital role our PTO plays in making our school a warm and welcoming community. The PTO organizes events, supports teachers, and fosters connections, creating an environment where our families can thrive. However, this incredible work can’t happen without your help! We invite you to volunteer with the PTO, whether you have a little time or a lot. Every bit counts and makes a real difference in our school. Many crucial PTO positions are still vacant.  By joining us, you’ll not only help us provide enriching experiences for our kids, but you’ll also meet other parents and build lasting friendships. Chess Club Parent Volunteer Opportunity: Chess Club Coach Mark Cohen is in search of parent volunteers for Chess Club every Tuesdays (September 24 - October 22, 2:20 - 4 pm) in the Blakely Lunchroom. More information and sign up available here!

Hearing & Vision Screening Volunteers (Thursday, October 17 and Friday October 18): Blakely school nurse Marci will be conducting the children’s hearing and vision screening on Thursday, October 17th and Friday, October 18th, we need volunteers to help. More information and sign up available here

Bainbridge Schools Foundation is excited to host a special playdate for all BISD kindergartners and their families! Come make new friends from Halilts, Blakely, Ordway, Odyssey, and Mosaic and help build our island community. Both parents and kids can enjoy light breakfast snacks while socializing and having fun. 

 All BISD kindergartners and families are welcome! Swing by anytime and join the fun.
