ARTIST TALK: WAIT...WHAT ARE YOU? 
February 7, 2025 from 3-5 p.m. at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Tickets: $10-$12. Event Info. Nikki Jabbora-Barber’s art re-examines female characters from stories passively internalized in childhood through a queer, mixed-race lens. Symbols representing her heritage, alongside Greek mythology and pop culture references, cover her woodblock self-portraits. She uplifts and adds to the collective story of thousands of women’s voices that came before hers – many that were silent or silenced throughout history and today. Nikki will share her work and speak to these themes in conversation with BIMA’s Education & Community Engagement lead, Jenna d’Anna. Audience Q&A and reception to follow.

THE AFTER PARTY: CAMPANA 
February 7, 2025 from 8-10 p.m. at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Tickets are $23-$25. Event Info. Event is suitable for older audiences (13 and above). Campana presents rap music that is quite peculiar to the typical Hip-Hop style due to influential backgrounds from different genres of music. Campana’s lyrics tie into life experiences, supported by his consciousness and awareness of things existing within the present. A product of Bremerton, WA — raised in Seattle, Campana first gained notoriety being the lead vocalist alongside his band Cosmos.

WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL CHESS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS OLYMPIC REGIONAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS
February 8, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at North Kitsap High School, 1780 NE Hostmark St, Poulsbo, WA. This is a rater Chess tournament limited to 9th-12th grade students who attend school (or home school) in Kitsap County, Clallam County, or Jefferson County. BAINBRIDGE COMMUNITY PIANO ASSOCIATION
February 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. A concert for kids presented by the Bainbridge Community Piano Association, Kids Discovery Museum and Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. First, we will explore music at KiDiMu, and then we will enjoy music at the Bainbridge Island Art Museum, located just down the street. Musical hosts Mike Derzon and Johnny Bregar invite children aged 0- 6 years old and their families to explore music, sounds and movement. The 35-minute concert will feature performances by professional musicians and sing-alongs for the family with an interactive element. KiDiMu opens at 9 am, the concert starts at 10:30am. CELEBRATING BLACK VOICES FILM FEST
February 9, 2025 from 12-6 p.m. at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Tickets: $12-$15. Event Info. In honor of Black History Month, BIMA will host Celebrating Black Voices Film Fest. Celebrate the rich contributions of Black filmmakers, both past and present, as we highlight their artistry, storytelling, and cultural significance. This one-day festival will showcase classic films that have shaped cinema and groundbreaking contemporary pieces by local filmmakers, offering a powerful reflection of Black experiences and creativity. Through these screenings, we aim to entertain, educate, and inspire audiences by honoring the profound impact of Black voices in film.

BAINBRIDGE YOUTH SERVICES PRESENTS: SCREENAGERS – ELEMENTARY SCHOOL-AGE EDITION
February 11, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Bainbridge Cinemas. Free. This new version of the original Screenagers movie addresses issues that elementary school-aged kids, parents, and educators are facing, i.e., smartwatches in class, unhooking from and monitoring video gaming, social media pressures, exposure to young, and what research shows is a healthy amount of screen time. BLACK HISTORY MONTH SOIREE
The Black History Month Soirée is a time to come together and celebrate Black culture with a night filled with music, art, and a special pop-up group of vendors from Seattle’s Black Love Market. Indulge in a night of dancing while shopping Black-owned businesses and enjoying live music and performances. Grab refreshments from the bistro, hit the dance floor, and surround yourself with community. Free admission, all ages, $10 suggested donation. All are welcome!
