Bainbridge Island Beach Cleanup

Saturday, September 20, 2025 9-noon

Location: Island Wide

Help keep our beaches and Puget Sound clean on this 10th anniversary of the BI Beach Cleanup. Get out with a bucket and grabber (borrow from us!) during the low tide hours. Bring us your beach trash, or take it to the new, after-hours (1-3pm) "artcycling" event co-hosted by sculptor Peter Sprung and Bainbridge Youth Services. Fix It Fair

Saturday, September 20, 2025 10-1pm

Location: BARN

Join us for a free community repair event! Register to bring up to two items, such as small appliances, clothing, lamps, vacuums, jewelry, bikes, or small electronics, last call at 12:30. Our experienced fixers will attempt repairs and share their knowledge, helping you learn valuable repair skills. Sun Day

Eager to learn about solar on Bainbridge? Do you have questions you want answered about solar power? Come to the Sun Day celebration at the Bainbridge Public Library. We’ll honor the Bainbridge library’s plans to install a solar system. Jeremy Smithson, founder of Puget Sound Solar, will review the history of solar in the U.S. and tell where the industry is headed.  You’ll also learn about solar projects around the Island and by the Suquamish tribe. The managers of several of those projects and homeowners who have installed solar power will help you learn from their experience. Manhattan Short Film Festival

Sept 25: 7pm. Sept 26-28, 3pm & 7pm

Tickets: $15 

Come and view 10 engrossing short films from around the world at the Manhattan Short Film Festival. Many past shorts have been considered for Academy Awards; two have even won the coveted prize. But this isn’t entirely a passive viewing, as you will vote for your favorite short film and favorite actor.As anyone who has been to this event knows, this is one hot ticket—so be sure to get yours in advance! All seven showings feature the same 10 short films. The program is roughly 2 1/2 hours, including an intermission, but give yourselves extra time to fill out your ballot. Conservation Work Party

Join the Park District's natural resources team and the Bainbridge Island Land Trust at Manzanita Park this fall. Explore this lesser-explored northern park and its miles of trails, wetlands, and forest. Well suited for children ages six and up who are comfortable using some small hand tools and walking off trail. We will meet at the trailhead kiosk next to the parking area. BI Parks and Rec Website

Trails Work Party

Join the Park District's trails team on the Forest to Sky Trail this fall. Explore this beautiful trail that connects Battle Point Park to the Grand Forest. Well suited for children ages eight and up who are comfortable using some small hand tools and walking a mile or so throughout the two-hour work party. Red Pine Park Work Party

Work with the Park District's horticulture staff this fall to put the gardens to bed, and care for an historic fruit orchard, edible perennials and other historic plantings in this former homestead in the heart of downtown.    BI Parks and Rec Website

Moritani Preserve Work Party

Join the Park District's Natural Resources team this fall in caring for the woods and meadows of Moritani Preserve by managing invasive species, maintaining garden beds, and planting natives when the weather is right. Beginner Strings - After School Music Lessons

9/18/2025 to 2/5/2026 Grade 2-4 Thursdays 3-3:45pm; Grades 5+ Thursdays 4-5pm

Location: Bethany Lutheran Church, 7968 Finch Rd NE

Price: $300/term

The Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra (BIYO) is offering a "Beginner Strings" class for elementary and middle school students to learn violin, viola or cello in a group setting. Students will learn beginning skills for their chosen instrument, note reading, rhythmic foundations, how to play together and they will have an opportunity to make new friends.  Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra Website
