Strategic Plan

A shared roadmap for every student in the Bainbridge Island School District.

This three-year plan is the result of a year-long process that brought together students, staff, families, community members, administrators and school leaders to reflect on our strengths, examine district data, identify areas for growth and define our priorities for the years ahead.

Nine Goals. One Direction.

Focus Areas & Goals

Rooted in community. Committed to every student.

Students are at the center of every decision we make. Three focus areas organize that work, each held up by disciplined stewardship.

Goals 1 & 2

Belong.

Equity · Inclusion · Connection

Where students feel safe, seen, valued, connected, and supported, and learn the social skills to thrive together.

1
Improve student well-being by fostering environments where every student feels seen and connected.
2
Teach students that their words and actions impact others, promoting compassion and shared responsibility.

Goals 3–5

Engage.

Rigor · Academics · Intervention

Where teaching is excellent, support is responsive, and every student is held to high academic expectations.

3
Strengthen resilience and self-management skills.
4
Ensure every student receives timely, responsive support through a data-informed system that advances equity and strong learning outcomes.
5
Strengthen instruction by providing educators with focused professional learning and advanced tools.

Goals 6 & 7

Thrive.

Relevance · Global Competency

Where learning is hands-on, relevant, and gives students the agency to lead in a digital world.

6
Expand hands-on learning that fosters intellectual curiosity and adaptability, moving students from passive learners to active agents.
7
Cultivate adept problem solvers who practice intentional technology use and possess the media literacy skills to navigate the digital world ethically.

The Foundation • Goals 8 & 9

Stewardship.

Integrity · Community

The foundation beneath it all: stewardship, integrity, and community.

8
Strengthen trust through transparent communication, integrity in action, and authentic engagement that values feedback from students, staff, families, and community.
9
Optimize and responsively allocate resources while navigating fiscal constraints to ensure long-term sustainability and district competitiveness.

How the Plan Was Built

Guided by the process theme “Many Voices, Shared Vision,” the Strategic Planning Steering Committee reviewed more than 30 data sets, analyzed community feedback, and worked collaboratively to develop a plan that reflects the values, aspirations, and priorities of the Bainbridge Island community.

The result is a roadmap focused on ensuring every student feels they belong, engages in meaningful learning, and thrives both in school and beyond.
