Trash, Recycling, and Compost

BISD will apply a fee to any organization renting or leasing a BISD facility that does not properly utilize our 3 step Recycle, Trash, and Compost system where provided.  Currently, Bainbridge High School, Woodward Middle School, and Commodore Options school offer this 3-step process in their commons areas, with other BISD schools rolling out options soon.  Thank you for doing your part for our community and the environment as a whole. Custodial Overtime Information

As part of your rental of BISD facilities, our custodians are present to ensure the safety and security of all user groups and the facilities they are using.  It is a requirement for all outside user groups that a BISD custodian be present during their rental and in some cases after their reservation to ensure that the space is secure and ready for the next group(s) who use the space.  This means that outside user groups may be subject to custodial overtime fees should their reservation take place outside of our custodians' normal working hours.  During the normal school year, our custodians work on a Monday - Friday schedule and are present in our facilities through the swing-shift.  This enables most outside user groups to avoid paying custodial overtime fees.  Yearlong, weekends and holidays are subject to custodial overtime.  In addition, school breaks, including summer, winter, mid-winter, and spring breaks, our custodians' normal schedules are adjusted and custodial overtime fees may be required depending on the time and date of your reservation(s).  The following is a list of holidays that are currently observed by Bainbridge Island School District custodians and will require overtime fees to be charged to any outside user groups who hold events on these days:

*Please note that, should any of these holidays fall upon a weekend, the holiday will be observed on a date the week prior to, or on a date the week following the holiday.  Our facilities scheduling managers will communicate these dates to any outside user groups who make requests for those dates.

• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Veterans' Day

• The Friday after Thanksgiving Day

• The day following or preceding Christmas Day

Custodial Staffing Rates:

• Monday - Saturday: $62.00 per hour
• Sundays & Holidays: $83.00 per hour

**There is a 2-hour minimum fee for all custodial coverage
