The Bainbridge Island School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Hook as principal of Sonoji Sakai Intermediate School. Hook brings a strong background in instructional leadership, student-centered systems, and inclusive school practices. She is known for fostering school environments where students feel safe, supported, and challenged—an approach that aligns closely with Sakai’s commitment to a caring, collaborative community of learners. “I am especially drawn to working with fifth and sixth graders,” said Hook. “This is such a pivotal and exciting stage, as students begin to discover who they are and grow in independence. I am passionate about supporting them through this transition and ensuring they feel confident, capable, and prepared for what comes next.” As an administrator in both Bellevue and Lake Washington School Districts, Hook has led work grounded in strong relationships with students and families while maintaining a focus on meaningful, engaging learning. She believes students thrive when they feel known, valued, and connected, and she prioritizes building school communities where relationships and learning go hand in hand. Her leadership reflects a commitment to aligning resources to student needs, strengthening core instruction, and ensuring all students are both supported and appropriately challenged. “Alison brings a deep commitment to equity, strong instructional leadership, and a genuine care for students, staff, and families,” said Superintendent Amii Thompson. “Her ability to build relationships and create systems that support student success makes her an excellent fit for the Sakai community.” Hook and her family are excited to join the Bainbridge Island community, drawn to its strong sense of connection and commitment to the natural environment—values that align closely with the learning experiences at Sakai. She will begin her role on July 1, 2026. |
