Counselor's Note
Dear Ordway Families,

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and schools across the country, including Ordway, will celebrate Unity Day on October 16th. This day calls on all of us to unite in kindness, inclusion, and courage to prevent bullying wherever it may occur. Students are encouraged to wear orange to help spread this important message.

On Unity Day, Taproot Theatre, a local theater company, will visit Ordway to present a play for our Ordway Otters titled Rocks. The play celebrates our differences, promotes empathy, and highlights the importance of supporting one another. For more information about Unity Day, feel free to visit Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention website.

In addition to Unity Day, our teachers and I have been introducing lessons from our CharacterStrong/Purposeful People social skills curriculum. These lessons focus on identifying bullying, understanding how it differs from conflict, and learning the actions students can take when they encounter bullying. You can find more information in the Family Connection letter from Purposeful People’s Bullying Prevention Unit.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. You can reach me by phone at (206) 780-1455 or via email at jdodge@bisd303.org.

Sincerely,
Janette Dodge
