Principal's Message
Dear Sakai Families,

Despite the darkness outside, it’s very colorful around Sakai today with many students (and staff) in their crayon colors. Please see below for the rest of this week's district-wide Spirit Day themes.

If you’re looking for an insightful read over break, Eagle Harbor Books has copies of “Anxious Generation” at 20% off for Sakai family members. Our PTO-sponsored Family Learning Night on January 28th will focus on technology use and feature a discussion about this book.

While the first semester officially ends at the end of January, winter break always feels like the “halftime” of a school year. It’s been such a positive start to the year. We appreciate all of your support and partnership. As we head into the break, I hope you all have a joyful one filled with family and friends

Have a wonderful week and a happy holiday season, Sakai.

Drew

Art News
I often think that if we could harness the energy and willingness of this age we could accomplish so many things.

We are making cards for the Holiday Cheer Community Meal. Local Restaurants collaborate with volunteers to put on a Holiday Meal for those folks on the Island who don't have other plans or for whom cooking a holiday meal would be a challenge. This was a last minute ask from one of our Volunteers that works with students Crocheting during lunch recess and Sakai Students are on it!

Happy Holidays and I hope it is FUN, RESTFUL and full of JOY!

Yours Truly,

Make Sure Your Student is Seen!
Safety First!
Bainbridge Island winter mornings and evenings are dark (and often rainy), making it difficult for drivers to see students walking or riding bikes. Before your student leaves for the day, please be sure they have the proper equipement to make them as visible as possible. For additional information, please review the tips on the Washington State Department of Transportation website
