BISD'S NEW WEBSITE - COMING SOON!

Blackboard (our current website vendor) went out of business, forcing us to change companies. Just like when you move to a new home, this move to a new website has given us the opportunity to clean house and throw away old content -- we are looking at you, 2013 School Supply Lists!

We have carefully gone through the website page by page to decide what to move and what content to leave behind. If there is something on our current website that you wish to keep (say, a photo of your student), please download* it by June 20, 2024. After this date, content will be unavailable. Think of it like moving out of a house and handing over the keys — after June 20, 2024, we cannot sneak back in and pick up forgotten material...the locks will have changed!

IMPORTANT: Between June 26 and 30, the BISD website will be unavailable while we transition to the new platform. During this time, you will not be able to access www.bisd303.org. If, during this time, you need to access Skyward, ParentSquare, Report a Concern or BoardDocs, you will need to use the URLs listed below.

*To download an image from our website to your computer, right-click your mouse on the image and a pop-up window will appear. Select Save image as... from the menu and save the file on your computer. Repeat as necessary.

HALF-DAY SCHEDULE FOR THE LAST DAY - JUNE 20th

Summer is quickly approaching — there are only two and a half school days left in the year!

The last day of school runs on a half-day schedule. Buses run to/from school and breakfast is served at all schools (except @ BHS) but lunch is not served.

  • Sakai is dismissed at 11:55 a.m.
  • WMS is dismissed at 12 p.m.

PROGRESS ON THE ABCs - NUMBERS ARE SLOWLY GOING UP

The ABCs is a time for parents/guardians to review annual notifications and let BISD know which students are returning next year.

To date, ABCs have been completed for 49% of the students (up 7% from three weeks ago). We aim for 100% completion by the end of the school year. This information helps us plan accurately.

If you are in the 49% - thank you. And if you are in the 51%, please complete the process ASAP by logging into Family Access. If you need assistance with the ABC process (such as translation, accessing technology, or other questions), please contact the office manager at your student's school.

NOTE: Class placement/class schedules will not be released in August until the ABCs are completed. But why delay? Go ahead and take care of it today!
PARENTSQUARE CLEAN-UP
Just like it's important to clean out students' backpacks once the school year is over (eww...we found you, smushed PB&J sandwich), it is important to clean up ParentSquare so things are fresh for the next school year.

ParentSquare posts from the 2023-24 school year will be archived on June 30, 2024. Posts after June 30th will pertain to the 2024-25 school year.
HAPPENING AROUND BISD

BIKE-TO-SCHOOL DAY

Our PNW students (as evidenced by their shorts and T-shirts in 50-degree weather) were unphased by the drizzly weather on Bike-to-School Day. It was a resounding success!

NO MOW MAY
As part of NO MOW MAY, the grassy area on the BHS campus between the 200 and 100 Buildings wasn't mowed. Students in 9th-grade English classes researched the benefits of NO MOW MAY and created educational signage on the benefits of this movement (provides habitat for wildlife, promotes blooming of wildflowers, etc). The proof was in the pudding, however, when this little one was caught resting among the tall grass.
KIWANIS EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR
If you know Liz Finin, you know she doesn't like a lot of fuss...which makes her winning the 2024 Kiwanis Educator of the Year award all the better. Congratulations, Liz, on this well-deserved recognition. And thank you to Kiwanis of Bainbridge Island for bestowing this honor (and all the other great work you do for our community).

FARM-TO-SCHOOL UPDATE
We are excited to announce that BISD was awarded a Farm to School Purchasing Grant!
This will allow us to continue our efforts to source local food and grow our farm-to-school program next school year! We also recently shared that BISD was accepted into the first Washington and Oregon Farm-to-School InstituteAs a part of this, a team from the BISD community (teaching and food and nutrition staff, administrators, community members) will be attending a 3-day intensive in July where they will develop a farm-to-school action plan for BISD. Thank you to everyone who shared input to inform this process. We will report back in the fall!
Until then, enjoy this pesto pea pasta recipe (a student favorite!) to celebrate spring and the end of the school year! Thank you for your support!

GRADUATION - CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2024!

On Saturday, June 14 at 4 p.m., more than 300 graduates will walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. The ceremony will be held at Memorial Stadium on the Bainbridge High School Campus and live streamed at https://www.bisd303.org/graduation.
KIDS' PANTRY BAGS
Helpline House, in partnership with Rotary Club, is offering Kids‛ Pantry Bags during the upcoming Summer break: June 21-Sept. 6, 2024.

These bags are for any youth (ages 0-18) in need of additional food during the school break.  Bags contain enough food for one youth for a week.
