Happy New Year, Blakely Community!
I’m back from maternity leave and have thoroughly enjoyed being back in the building supporting students, families, and staff. A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to Nicole Pond for supporting our community in my place while I was gone.
I’ll feature a piece here in our Blakely Newsletter biweekly to keep you updated on everything related to school counseling and social-emotional learning within our school.
This week, I’d like to share a couple of resources that I hope may be helpful if you find the transition back into the school-work routine challenging after Winter Break. Returning to school after a long break can be just as hard for some students and families as starting a new school year. It may come with many nervous butterflies in the tummy, anticipation, and even resistance.
Please reach out if your child or family is in need of support as we embark on a new year and the rest of the 2024-2025 school year.
Always here to help,
Amanda Keller (she/her), M.Ed.

Call for Volunteers
- Bingo Night is on Friday, January 31st 5:30-7:30 pm. Our host for this fun family evening is Blakely parent, Chris Lum. This year promises to be another fun evening of games, laughs, pizza and prizes! We will need parent volunteers to help set up and pack up, serve pizza, and give out prizes. Please check the sign up to see if you can help!
- In keeping with tradition, we are planning our Teacher Conference Day lunches to nourish our wonderful teachers during their long conference days held on February 12th-14th. The PTO is providing the main entree for our teacher lunches but would love help with the sides. Please sign up if you are able to bring an item.
Bainbridge Schools Foundation 21st Annual Gala!

Your participation helps bridge critical funding gaps, ensuring every student in the Bainbridge Island School District has access to the resources they need to thrive. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow supporters and celebrate the power of education. Register today.
Community Advocacy for K-12 Public Schools
- Bainbridge Island, along with many districts statewide, is facing severe budget crises. It's crucial that we make our voices heard during the 2025 Washington State legislative session.
