The music classroom is buzzing with excitement as we prepare for our first evening performance at the Ordway! The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders have been working hard since returning from break to prepare music for their friends and families. Please join us on Tuesday, February 4th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ordway gym.
The program will last approximately 30 minutes and will showcase some of the music fundamentals we’ve been learning in class.
As we move into spring, all classes will begin focusing on solfege singing syllables, exploring a “Composer of the Month,” and, for 4th graders, starting recorders after mid-winter break. As always, instruments and games play a vital role in making music fun and engaging. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via email—thank you for supporting our amazing musicians!
Lastly, a HUGE THANK YOU to our wonderful PTO for their generous grant to purchase a classroom set of glockenspiels. This new addition will allow every student to build their keyboard and note-reading skills to the fullest!
Sincerely,
Wendy Olinger

Last Friday, our BISD Farm to School Team conducted a taste test of Chicken Shawarma at Ordway.
Students overwhelmingly voted in favor of the dish, and it’s sure to be a hit when served for lunch in the future. Ordway students and staff were incredibly welcoming and eager to participate in the taste test experience—thank you, Ordway Otters!
You can learn more about the Farm to School program on the BISD website, which also includes suggested recipes for each of the foods of the month. Since many students asked for the Shawarma recipe on Friday, we’ve attached it HERE.
