From the Principal

Dear Woodward Families,

A HUGE THANK YOU to our PTO and all families who brought in great meals and snacks for our staff during conference week! We are very grateful for our supportive and generous families.Β We also are excited about the high turnout for the Student Led Conferences. It was wonderful to see all of you! We greatly appreciate your participation in our effort to help students take charge of sharing their school strengths, interests, areas of growth and goals.Β If you have not filled out the Parent Survey, we hope you will and look forward to your feedback.

Last week we held our annual Martin Luther King, Jr assembly which was led by our students.Β Our guest speakers were students from Bainbridge High School and the Bainbridge Island Mayor, Ashley Mathews.Β Our own WMS Choir performed Lift Every Voice and Sing. It was both educational and inspirational!

Please reach out to us if you have any questions about clubs, classes or programs here at Woodward.Β We always look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jeannie Donoghue

Dear Wildcat Parents and Guardians,Β

I don't know about your January, but mine was a little crazy! We're getting back into the swing of things, with a meeting next week. We'll be discussing the latest District budget updates, Emergency Supplies, updates to PTO Bylaws (everyone's favorite dry subject!), and 8th Grade Banquet updates.

Come give your opinions, see how the sausage is made, and be part of a community that makes a difference in the lives of our students and staff. If you can't make it in person, we have a virtual option as well.Β

See you there!

Career Planning at Woodward Middle School

Utilizing our Monday Seminar time, Woodward students will dive into career exploration utilizing a program called Career Planner. 7th grade students will take a Preference Survey and 8th Grade Students will take an Interest Survey. The results of these surveys link students to careers that align with their preference and interests.Β For the second 8th grade career lesson, students will explore or β€˜dig deeper’ into careers that look interesting to them while exploring duties, training, helpful high school courses & wages of their interested careers.Β 7th grade students will β€œdig deeper” into the wage of their selected career and fill out a budget/expenditure worksheet that they will use at one of the activities at the EXPLORE event on Wednesday, March 5th. (Our mid-February WMS Newsletter will have more information about the Explore event.)

Chromebook Insurance - Purchase Window Open through 2/28

The Chromebook Insurance window has reopened and will be available through February 28th, 2025. The price to replace uninsured devices can be up to $428 while insurance coverage for the remainder of the school year is only $24. Spills and drops happen and insurance coverage is the easiest way to prevent an unanticipated fee on your student’s account. Chromebook insurance coverage lasts for one school year and must be applied for each year. Sign Up

Families facing financial challenges may request to have the insurance fee waived for the year through this online form.
