February is here!
Welcome to February!
This week we began 2nd semester with positive energy and community building activities. Our wonderful Co-LAB students treated our community to a fundraising hot cocoa stand for the past four days. I love seeing all of our students support one another and enjoy a hot beverage during our cold lunch recesses together. It was a huge success! They raised over $615 in donations to support the Humane Society of Pasadena and the pets impacted by the fires in southern CA. Well done team!

Our Character Strong theme this month is "HONESTY". As most of you know, BISD is facing a serious budget challenge this year. We will be spending the next two months exploring many ways to reduce spending, including staffing for next year. All of our staff are showing up every day supporting our students and being incredibly professional, but we're all navigating the reality of change for next year. Please take time to thank your student's teachers and support staff. We all need more kindness, partnership, unconditional support, and joyful celebrations in our lives when the world around us is unpredictable and unsafe for many.

I appreciate all of our volunteers and parents who show up when needed to support our efforts! You all help to make Commodore a fun place to be every day!

February is another short month for us. We have Odyssey K-8 conferences before mid-winter break and our 2025-26 applications are due for all of our options programs this month. Keep spreading the word to other families! We continue to plan for growth, enhance program offerings, and seek creative ways to support all of our students.

Thank you all for your support and commitment to COS K-12!

Baby Salmon at Commodore!!
Every year we raise a wonderful tank of baby salmon from fertilized eggs until they become healthy fry...typically by spring break. Their growth and development is being monitored by Mosaic and EHHS students weekly. This is always an enriching learning experience for our students who live and study in the PNW where the life cycle of salmon is critical to the health of the Salish Sea. Stop by and check the babies out in EHHS Science Lab #507.
