Principal's Message
Dear Sakai Families,

Well, February has started with a lot of excitement. I hope you are staying warm and safe! Last week, our food drive started off really strong! Thank you, families, for helping your students donate and volunteer. The weather, however, has caused a little disruption. Bainbridge Island School District has canceled all after-school activities. As such, If your student has signed up for a shift on a day we have canceled school, they should not go out.

Thank you to everyone who came out last week for our PTO-sponsored book talk on Anxious Generation. It was a really engaging discussion and a nice time to collaborate on some of the issues and concerns we face as parents with kids in this age band. On February 11th, Bainbridge Youth Services is hosting a screening of Screenagars, the Elementary School Age Edition, from 6:30 at Bainbridge Cinemas. I hope to see you there!

Stay safe this week, Sakai!

Drew

  • Olivia Roesch
  • Arlo Watson
  • Lana Evans
  • Sunny Roe

These students invited a friend to attend a pizza party with Mr. Crandall. Thank you to That's a Some Pizza and PTO for sponsoring our student incentive program. The nominations are made in reference to Sakai's Four R's: Responsible, Respectful, Reasonable, Reliable.

Food Drive
Coho Community Food Drive
IT'S HERE! The annual, colossal, gigantic, I can't believe it......Share the love.... COHO COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE!!

The food drive runs from January 27th through Monday, February 10th.

Each student is encouraged to bring items to help us fill the shelves at Helpline House. This is part of our Coho program which includes community service.

Food donations may be dropped off outside in front of the school at the drop off/pick up loop. Please place food donations under the covered canopy. Please write the student's homeroom teacher on all bags and boxes.

Winter Conferences
Winter Conferences
Wednesday, February 12th, Thursday, February 13th and Friday, February 14th are Winter conference days.

There is no school for students on conference days.

Conferences are an important time to further that home to school, and school to home connection that is so valuable in education. It's a time for students to be recognized for their efforts, and a time for students to re-establish their goals and their dedication toward reaching those goals. Families and teachers work together to support the student. In so doing, families and teachers show the caring and teamwork that is a crucial connection in a student's education.

Teachers will be contacting families to sign up for conferences and are looking forward to conferencing with all of you.
