Smarter Balanced Assessment Dates

Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) will start the week of May 5. All 10th graders (and some 11th graders who will be notified by April) will take the SBA tests. Here is the adjusted bell schedule for that week.
NOTE: AP tests take priority over SBA testing. Students with AP tests will be provided an alternate SBA testing date.
More information will be provided in the coming weeks.

PTSO's Spring Classroom Supplies Drive
|
Our amazing teachers work hard to provide the best education for our students, and we want to ensure they have the resources they need to succeed. There are several ways to support teachers in their classrooms:
- Contribute to our ongoing fundraiser by donating here.
- Purchase items off the Amazon Wishlist filled with supplies requested by BHS teachers.
- Send an Amazon eGift Card in any amount for the school to use to purchase supplies from the Amazon Wishlist. Email to Jill Colley, jcolley@bisd303.org.
We are overwhelmed by the support received to date, and appreciate your generosity in helping every teacher and student finish the school year strong! Thank you! ~ BHS PTSO

Social Media Safety Forum ~ March 25
|
BHS PTSO is hosting a general meeting for parents and guardians on Tuesday March 25th @ 7pm in the BHS Library. BHS Principal Kristina Rodgers, BIPD Officer Zach Burnham and Kelsey Lynch, BIPD Community Health Navigator will participate in a panel discussion around teen social media use, trends, and best practices so that adults can be "in the know" to help their teens navigate their online presence. The idea is to empower adults to support our kids to make safe and smart choices as well as recognize when to seek help or support if something feels harmful or possibly illegal.
Please use this form to share any questions, concerns or ideas we can address during this presentation.

The Annual Back-to-school Check-in (ABC) process is now open. This annual process lets us know that your student(s) are returning to our schools for 2025-26 and allows parents/guardians to review annual information.
The ABCs must be completed* for all students attending BISD schools in 2025-26, including both new and returning students. Access the ABCs by logging into your Family Access account. It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete.
If you need assistance with the ABC process (such as translation, accessing technology, or other questions), please get in touch with [insert your contact information here].
NOT RETURNING? If your current K-11th grade student is not returning to BISD schools next fall, please let [insert your contact information here] know.
*Student class placement/class schedules will not be released in August until the ABCs are completed. But why delay? Go ahead and take care of it today!

WHAT IS THIS?
BISD’s attendance campaign!
WHY?
BISD believes that student attendance and engagement are essential components of understanding and nurturing the social and emotional well-being of our students.
- Across the United States, chronic absenteeism has nearly doubled from the pre-COVID era, from 8 million to 14.8 million
- BISD chronic absenteeism has grown from 6.2% pre-COVID to 27.4% (current).
WHAT DOES THIS SLOGAN MEAN?
SHOW UP as your best self and SHOW OUT by being a part of BISD’s community of learners with unique skills, talents, and passions!
Simply showing up to class is not always easy, but something to be proud of as a foundational part of being a student. You can show out by positively influencing your class and school with your voice and talents.
WHAT IS OUR GOAL?
90% of students to attend school 90% of the time!
We deeply value your students and are excited to see them in class each day. Our goal is to instill a sense of pride in cultivating healthy habits and embracing the identity of being a student. This marks the beginning of our ongoing partnership to improve school attendance district-wide.
If you are facing challenges in motivating your student to attend school or encounter barriers in supporting their attendance, we encourage you to reach out to a counselor or administrator at your student’s school for assistance.
Look for stats on how attendance impacts learning and helpful resources to strengthen students’ resolve in future newsletters. And, look at BISD attendance data from a recent presentation to the school board. Attendance Presentation
A big thank you to the high school students in Graphic Design class who helped create graphics for the“Show Up & Show Out" campaign.
