Hello Blakely Community!
I hope everyone found some time for relaxation during our week off for Spring Break.
We have two significant school-wide events taking place this month— our Plastic Collection Drive for Ridwell has been underway since the beginning of April, and next week, our annual Blakely Kindness Week will take place! Below is some must-know information about both of these events.
Plastic Collection Drive (April 1-30)
- Collection of clean and clear soft plastics for donation to Ridwell will continue until the end of April.
-
Acceptable plastics include: clear plastic film, baggies, plastic shopping bags, produce bags, plastic mailers, etc.
- The collection bin is located to the right, just inside the front entrance of the building.
Blakely’s Annual Kindness Week (April 21-25)
- Daily Spirit Days & School-Wide Kindness Challenges

- Tuesday, April 22 (Earth Day)— 💌 Kindness is Contagious Day! Wear something with positive messages or hearts. Daily school-wide challenge: Compliment 5 people.
- Wednesday, April 23— 👟 Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes Day! Wear funky shoes or decorate shoes to symbolize empathy and understanding others. Daily school-wide challenge: Invite a new friend to sit by you at lunch, join in a recess game, etc.
- Thursday, April 24— 🧸 Kindness is Comfort Day! Bring your favorite stuffed animal or wear soft, cozy clothes to share comfort with others. Daily school-wide challenge: Be kind to yourself - take a breather break.

The Annual Back-to-school Check-in (ABC) process is now open. This annual process lets us know that your student(s) are returning to our schools for 2025-26 and allows parents/guardians to review annual information. We have had 31% of families complete their ABC Check In so far.
The ABCs must be completed* for all students attending BISD schools in 2025-26, including both new and returning students. Access the ABCs by logging into your Family Access account. It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete.
If you need assistance with the ABC process (such as translation, accessing technology, or other questions), please get in touch with Kyanne Hawkins at KHawkins@bisd303.org or (206) 780-2060.
NOT RETURNING? If your current K-11th grade student is not returning to BISD schools next fall, please let Kyanne Hawkins know at KHawkins@bisd303.org or (206) 780-2060.
*Student class placement/class schedules will not be released in August until the ABCs are completed. But why delay? Go ahead and take care of it today!

A few reminders about attendance procedures.
- Please email blaattend@bisd303.org if your student will be absent or tardy to school. You can also put in attendance via Family Access. Please also let us know the reason your student will be absent or tardy.
- If your student will be gone more than 3 days you need to fill out an Extended Absence Form and submit to the office. Located Here. prior to the absence.
- If you are dropping your student off after school is started or picking up your student early you need to come into the office and sign them in or out.

Please have your student take a look at Lost and Found for any missing items. We will be donating all items at the end of this week and will return anything that has a name on it.
