From the Principal’s Office
Dear Woodward Families,
As we move into May, it’s time to prepare for important state testing. Our students will be taking the Washington State Assessments in Language Arts and Math (Smarter Balanced Assessment, or SBA), as well as the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).
We appreciate your support in helping students feel ready and confident on testing days. Please take note of the following dates and details:
Testing Schedule:
-
May 6 & 7: SBA – Language Arts (7th & 8th grades)
-
May 13 & 14: SBA – Math (7th & 8th grades)
-
May 20 & 21: WCAS – Science (8th grade only)
We will provide a set of headphones for every student. Students will not be able to use their own wireless headphones, though they may use personal headphones that plug into the Chromebook.
What You Can Do to Help:
- Ensure your student gets a good night’s sleep before each test day.
- Avoid scheduling appointments during the school day on testing dates.
- Remind students to fully charge their Chromebooks the night before testing.
Please contact us if you have any questions!
Sincerely,
Jeannie Donoghue
WMS Principal

Adjust those calendars! The 2024-25 school year will conclude Monday, June 23, which will be a half day.
There will be no school on Thursday, June 19, in observation of the federal holiday.

During this year's Deep Dive, students learned more about aging challenges, and were able to connect with Seniors in our community for yoga, bingo, tea, and panel discussions.
|
Please mark your calendars!
On Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30pm the Woodward Jazz Band, the Woodward Choir and the Bainbridge Island Senior/ Community Center's Evergreen Singers will be performing in the 3rd annual Music For All Generations Concert!
This is a free event that will take place at Woodward Middle School. Woodward students, families and community members are all invited to attend.

This year, we’re going Back to Camp to celebrate our amazing staff and show them just how much we appreciate them! We’ve planned a full week of fun, food, and surprises—but we need your help to make it unforgettable.
How You Can Help:
We’re collecting donations to stock our “camp” with snacks, treats, and supplies. Please sign up HERE, or shop directly from our Amazon Wish List. Local purchases are always welcome—just let us know so we can update the list (contact details are in sign-up genius).

Woodward is currently at 26% completion for the ABC process. Help increase that number by completing your ABC's for next year as soon as possible. Let's help Woodward be the first school to get to 100%!
The Annual Back-to-school Check-in (ABC) process is now open for the 2025-26 school year. This annual process must be completed for all new and returning students, as it lets us know that your student(s) are returning. The process also allows parents/ guardians to review annual information.
You can complete the ABC's by logging into your Family Access account. It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete.
If you need assistance with the ABC process (such as translation, accessing technology, or other questions), please get in touch with the WMS Registrar, Ms. Webber ( mwebber@bisd303.org).
NOT RETURNING? If your upcoming 7th-8th grade student is not returning to BISD schools next fall, please let Ms. Webber know ( mwebber@bisd303.org).
Student class schedules will not be available until August.

If state funding was all we had to support our schools, we’d already be getting ready for the last day of school!
Join Bainbridge Schools Foundation and Bainbridge Public School Advocates at Sisters’ Cider House on Wednesday, April 30 from 5–7 PM for a casual, family-friendly event marking the symbolic “State’s Last Day of School” and the kickoff to BSF’s final fundraising push of the year.
This spring, BSF aims to raise $100,000 to help fund critical programs and educators across Bainbridge Island School District.
All spring gifts are being matched up to $40,000! If you’ve been waiting to make your gift, you can double your impact now!

We have received communication from our neighbors in North Town Woods about the increase in families picking up there in the afternoon. Please refrain from doing so as this causes an unsafe environment with an inability for emergency vehicles to access those streets.
We appreciate your help with this.
