BHS Welcomes New Principal

We are excited to announce that Dan Novick has been selected as the next principal of Bainbridge High School.
Dan brings more than 26 years of experience in education, including 16 years in secondary administration and 13 years as a high school teacher. Most recently, as a strategist for AVID, he worked with school leadership teams to audit and improve systems through the lens of equity and access. His work focused on empowering educators to raise the bar for academic rigor while closing the opportunity gap—a mission he previously championed as Principal of John Sedgwick Middle School, where he was known for providing steady leadership and high-quality instruction.
Dan is a relational, team-oriented leader who builds strong connections with students, staff, and families. He is visible and engaged in the life of the school—whether in classrooms or at student events—and takes time to understand students’ experiences, growth, and goals. Colleagues consistently describe his ability to foster a positive school culture where people feel valued and connected.
A lifelong learner, Dan approaches leadership with curiosity and reflection. He brings the confidence and resilience needed to lead through challenges, engage in difficult conversations, and continuously strengthen systems to better serve all students. With a thoughtful and analytical approach, Dan brings strong critical thinking skills to complex challenges, using data, multiple perspectives, and clear communication to guide decision-making and improve systems that support student learning.
“We are excited to welcome Dan Novick to Bainbridge High School,” said Superintendent Amii Thompson. “Dan is a thoughtful, student-centered leader who builds authentic relationships and brings a clear focus on teaching and learning. His ability to listen, partner with staff and families, and lead with both care and clarity will champion the experience of every student.”
Please join us in welcoming Dan to Bainbridge High School. We look forward to the positive impact he will have on students, staff, and the broader community.
