Happy Thanksgiving
From the Principal
Dear x̌alilc Families,

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each of you. This school year has been filled with growth, learning, and moments of joy, and we are thankful for the support, kindness, and dedication that make our x̌alilc school community so special.

We wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with warmth, happiness, and togetherness. May this time of reflection remind us all of the many blessings we share, both big and small.

Enjoy the break, and we look forward to seeing you after the holiday!

Warmly,
Rhonda Walton

Gratitude
From the Counselor
With Thanksgiving this week, it’s a perfect time to launch into the character trait of Gratitude as part of our Character Strong curriculum!

Practicing gratitude can increase well-being and even our happiness. Gratitude is a powerful mindset that helps build stronger relationships, boosts well-being, and creates a sense of community. By emphasizing gratitude, we hope to encourage our students to appreciate the small and big things in their lives. (Harvard Health article - Giving Thanks Can Make You Happier).

In our class Purposefull People lessons, GRATITUDE is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students BE WELL.

How You Can Help at Home:
  • Model Gratitude: Share what you're thankful for each day.
  • Create a Family Gratitude Ritual: Share something you're grateful for at family meals or bedtime.
  • Encourage Kindness: Help your child practice acts of kindness each week.

Be on the lookout for an email from your grade rep with more information specific to your grade level.

PTO December Staff Appreciation
Let’s make this holiday season as special as our incredible x̌alilc (Halilts) staff! This holiday season we’ll be creating a festive hot beverage bar and cookie counter, where all staff can fill thank-you gift boxes to take home and enjoy!

Click here to view available slots in December and sign up to show your appreciation!

Safety First
Safety First!
Bainbridge Island winter mornings and evenings are dark (and often rainy), making it difficult for drivers to see students walking or riding bikes. Before your student leaves for the day, please be sure they have the proper equipment to make them as visible as possible.
