Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month

Please join BISD in honoring and celebrating Autism Acceptance Month. The Autism Society says this is a time to celebrate and honor the experiences and identities of Autistic individuals. The month emphasizes understanding, inclusion, and support, moving beyond awareness towards meaningful acceptance.

Autism Acceptance Month recognizes that Autism is more than a diagnosis—it is identity, community, and a lived experience that encompasses both challenges and triumphs.

Learn more by visiting the Autism Society's website.

Last Day

We are in the final stretch!

Now that we have returned from Spring Break, our attention is focused on the next few months.

Are you wondering when the last day of school will be because of earlier weather-related closures? We are, too! We are waiting to hear the official date from OSPI, and once we know, we will share it ASAP.

For now, it is best to plan that all three make-up days built into the school calendar will be utilized -- which would make Monday, June 23rd the last day. Please note that there will be no school on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Stay tuned! We will let you know as soon as we can!

ABC Process

The ABCs are here!

The Annual Back-to-school Check-in (ABC) process is open and has been completed for 27% of students. This annual process lets us know that your student(s) are returning to our schools for 2025-26 and allows parents/guardians to review annual information.

The ABCs must be completed* for all students attending BISD schools in 2025-26, including both new and returning students. Access the ABCs by logging into your Family Access account. It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete.

If you need assistance with the ABC process (such as translation, accessing technology, or other questions), please get in touch with the office manager at your student's school.

NOT RETURNING? If your current K-11th grade student is not returning to BISD schools next fall, please inform your school's office manager.

*Student class placement/class schedules will not be released in August until the ABCs are completed. But why delay? Go ahead and take care of it today!

Board Brief

Board Brief

If you are interested in a high-level overview of what happens at school board meetings, then look no further than the Board Brief.

The next School Board Meeting is Thursday, April 24 @ 5:45 p.m.

Language

BISD World Language Proficiency Exam

Does your 8th-12th-grade student speak a language other than English in your home?

Can your 8th-12th-grade student speak, read, and write in a language that is not offered at Bainbridge High School?

If you answered YES to at least one of the above questions, your student may be eligible to earn high school World Language credit by taking a language proficiency exam.

Reminder - Tdap Vaccine for Rising 7th Graders

Students entering 7th grade are required to receive the Tdap vaccine. This is a reminder to schedule necessary vaccine appointments before the 2025-26 school year begins. 😉

Happening Around BISD

Salmon release

Annual Salmon Release

Just like seeing the daffodils pop up along Highway 305, you know spring has arrived when Sakai students make their annual trek to the stream behind the school for the salmon release.
Olympia Field Trip

Blakely Bulldogs Visited Olympia

Fourth-grade students from Blakely Elementary had a memorable field trip to Olympia, where they visited with Governor Bob Ferguson (top photo) and asked several questions to Senator Drew Hansen and Representative Greg Nance (bottom photo). What a great way to experience how state government works!
Romeo and Juliet

"O, Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art though Romeo?"

The Seattle Shakespeare Company stopped by Bainbridge High School on Tuesday to share a special performance for 9th-grade students. What a treat to watch the lines of the play come to life on stage! Special thanks to the BHS PTSO for providing the funding to make this possible.
Hanami at Sakai

Sunshine & Cherry Blossoms

Today was the day -- Hanami at Sakai! When the cherry blossoms are just right and the sun is out, the Sakai staff surprise the students and allow them to eat lunch under the stunning flower blossoms. And as a bonus, they receive a cherry sweet treat -- the icing on the cake of a beautiful day.
