From the Counselor

Dear Blakely Community,

As we enter the month of February, we will start talking about this month’s school-wide character trait focus of HONESTY. Honesty means being truthful in our words and actions, even when it feels hard. It helps build trust, strengthens relationships, and supports a safe and caring environment where we all feel at ease with being ourselves.

At school, students will explore honesty through classroom discussions, counseling lessons, read-alouds, and everyday moments of learning and problem-solving. We will practice using honest words to share feelings, take responsibility for choices, and ask for help when needed.

At home, you can support this learning by encouraging open conversations, modeling truthful communication, and praising effort when your child tells the truth, especially in tricky situations. Reading books that highlight honesty, role-playing real-life scenarios, and reminding your child that mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow can also help reinforce this important character trait.

Together, we can help our children understand that honesty builds trust, confidence, and strong relationships by modelling honesty through acknowledging mistakes, celebrating truth-telling, and reinforcing that being honest is about learning and growing, and not about being perfect.

Thank you for partnering with us as we grow this important skill within our students and community! 💜

Transportation Update: BusRight Launch Coming Soon!

We’re excited to share that we will be launching the BusRight app next week and look forward to providing families with a new tool that offers greater visibility and real-time updates for student transportation.

Our original plan was to send activation emails on Monday; however, due to technical difficulties, those emails were delayed and are now being sent to families today. Please check your inbox for next steps.

What to Look For
Families of bus riders will receive an activation email with simple, step-by-step instructions to set up their BusRight account and begin using the app once the system is live.

Why We’re Excited About BusRight
Once active, BusRight will put transportation information right at your fingertips:
  • Real-Time Tracking: Follow your child’s bus on a live map
  • Arrival Times: View estimated arrival times for your specific stop
  • Stay Informed: Receive notifications about route updates or delays

Questions?
If you have questions about your child’s route or the BusRight app, please contact our Transportation Department at 206-842-4641.

Girls on the Run - Coaches Needed!
Coaches are needed for the Blakely Girls on the Run team! No coaching or running experience is required. All the tools, training, and support needed to lead a team through an amazing 10-week session are provided! Share 4 hours a week to make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

Girls on the Run is a place where caring volunteer coaches give 3rd-5th grade girls a space to laugh, move, and grow. Through our new curriculum Hello, Bold Heart!, coaches lead girls in learning to share what's in their hearts, cheer each other on, build confidence, and reach goals at their own pace. Each practice blends movement, connection, and fun - helping girls grown strong in body, mind, and heart.
